The band called Sondagskoolhelde started playing together in 2011. The band is part of a whole new wave of progressive, alternative Afrikaans music that has energized the local music scene. Their music is characterized by melodic riffs, grooving rhythms and lyrics written to tingle the soul and fall away from reality.
The four piece band consists of: Quinton Brand: Vocals & Additional Guitar Gabriel Malherbe: Guitar
Hannes Wannenburg: Drums
Arno Smit: Bass
Sondagskoolhelde have played at established venues and fests such as Arcade Empire, Café Barcelona, Black Dahlia, Cheeky Monkey Montana, Zeplins Rock Shack, Rafters Mooikloof, Firkin Pub, Cool Runnings, Memphis Rock, Aardklop, Rock the river ect.
Sondagskoolhelde has shared a stage with bands such as; Van Coke Kartel, Glaskas, Tuin Dwergies, Moses Metro Man,Lark, Wrestlerish, Ashtray Electric, Taxi Violence, Goodnight Wembley, Woodstock Mafia and many more.
Their gigs have all been received positively by the audiences they have played for and the band already has a loyal, albeit small, following.
