Somebody shotgunned winged freedom

PARIS, MISSOURI — A female American bald eagle took two pellets to the wing last week, ABC News reported on Tuesday citing state conservation officials.

They say a landowner sighted the bird hanging around the same area for a few days in a row before he reported her.

The bald eagle named "Dorothy Parker" by rescuers was down but not out.

The department says the wounded bird tried to flee agents by hopping away. They eventually caught her with a blanket.

According to the department, University of Missouri's Raptor Rehabilitation Project is taking care of the eagle's broken wing.
