Description

One of the well-known unit cells is Face-Centered Cubic, or fcc. The term cubic here refers to the shape of the unit cell which looks like a cube. While the term face centered refers to the presence of atoms located in the middle of the side of the cube. In general, in the fcc structure there are 8 atoms at the corner points of the cube and 6 atoms in the middle of the side of the cube.
