Software guru John McAfee arrested in Guatemala
Description
On the run from police in Belize, John McAfee has been arrested in Guatemala for illegally entering the country.
The anti-virus software guru was filmed here in Guatemala City before his arrest on Wednesday (December 5).
He crossed into the country to evade authorities in Belize, who want to question him about a murder.
McAfee denies involvement in the death and says he's being deliberately targeted.
SOUNDBITE: JOHN MCAFEE SAYING (English):
"At that point, I become someone that they want to remove or put in prison where I cannot speak for the rest of my life. Since that time I've had nothing but persecution, I've had charge after charge levelled at me that never even got to the court."
McAfee claims his life would be in danger if he returned to Belize - an allegation denied by officials.
SOUNDBITE: JOHN MCAFEE SAYING (English):
"And it's been continuing on and on, the latest thing was simply the murder of my neighbour two doors down, so very convenient for them. At that point I decided I had to do something, went undercover, I'm now here and I'm now going to speak out and I'm going to speak out big time."
Guatemala is seeking to expel McAfee, who on Tuesday (December 4) said he would try and seek political asylum.
