Snowfall, landslides block Jammu-Srinagar highway

The Jammu-Srinagar national highway closed for the second consecutive day due to heavy rains and snowfall in Udhampur. Ramnagar-Udhampur road is blocked at Kaghote a boulder rolled down, following a landslide triggered due to heavy rainfall. No vehicular movement would be allowed on the highway during the day keeping the safety of travellers in mind. The situation will be reviewed after the weather improves. Meteorological Department (MET) has forecasted moderate to heavy snowfall in the Kashmir Valley and rain in the Jammu division for the next 24 hours. Hundreds of trucks including passenger vehicles were halted at various points of National highway at Udhampur.
