Smrithi Padmakumar - Good night

This is a poem that rised im my mind three years ago, when I was in my 10th standard.
Its so simple but still I value this poem a lot because what made me to jot this three years ago was
the memories of my Grandma.She left me when I was just three years old.I don't have much pictures about her in my mind.
But I knew that she loved me a lot and I too love her beyond these words.
This simple but sweet poem is dedicated to my Grandma (my Achamma) who still resides in my heart, even though she is in heaven now!

People coming and mourning
aloud and aloud..
Tears dropping...but
for what? I didn't get!

A hand cmae to me and
dragged me across the crowd.
I couldn't stop that and
the voice-'your Grandma is dead! '

For me, who was three,
what does it mean?
But I knew-its something
bad and without a smile!

I reached beside her;
lying under a white cloth.
'Oh! She is hiding beneath it,
Playing 'hide and seek'? '

'Perhaps, she shouldn't hear-
I found you! '-I thought

'No, she is sleeping-but
she didn't give me the kiss! '

So I gave her my kiss; for
she has slept before moon!
And told a secret in her ears
'Good night, sweet dreams! '

But 'now', I realise,
that was a dark day!
The worst moment-for
I lost her forever!

But still I say-
'Good night Grandma'-for
she is having a sleep
without a wake-'an eternal sleep! '
