Slideshow: Student-Planned Orphanage Visit

Alexa Rae Johnson, a student on the Spring 2011 voyage, feels a need to reach out to orphans. She is adopted and considers herself lucky to have the family that she does. She's also grateful for the opportunity to study on a Semester at Sea voyage. As she says, "Semester at Sea gives you an opportunity to learn about what you're passionate about. It gives you tastes of different ways you can make a difference." This visit gave her and others on the voyage a chance to connect with children at an orphanage in Takoradi, Ghana.
