skimble skamble - Weedkiller

Description
Implacable, impenetrable.
This relentless weed keeps growing.
Expanding, extending,
Enlarging, elongating.
This relentless weed has a hold on me.
Weed-killer, poison,
Miasma, toxin.
This relentless weed won’t let go.
I keep taking my weed-killer,
It holds me steady; my life-giving pillar.
Such dependence scares me,
But it’s a healthy poison and it’s needed.
It doesn’t kill me,
It seems to make me stronger.
It lets the flowers in me grow again.
But with every dose it kills off any hope I had left.
But still it hasn’t succeeded;
It hasn’t killed the weed under the surface,
Under the paving stones that guard it.
I think it’s because my weed it too big;
Like ivy, you need to kill the very root of it.
Me.
