Simple Past Tense – Regular and Irregular

We have many verbs in English.
We have what are called regular verbs.

A regular verb will end in “d” or "ed". For example: "use", "used".

So, regular verb. We like to call them "ed" verbs just to be fancy.

So, regular verbs are easy because they all both end in "ed" if you
have different forms.

a. The past tense of a regular verb is formed by adding ‘-ed’ at the end of the verb.

walk  – walked:
I walked to school this morning.

post – posted:
Michelle posted her letters yesterday.

climb– climbed:
The two boys climbed up the tree to pick up the fruits.

b. Irregular verbs form their past tense in a different way.
 These verbs change their forms.
come – came:
She came to my house last night.

go– went:
They went to Malaysia by coach.
 
catch – caught:
My father caught a big fish.
