Melbourne singer songwriter Simon Astley is on a high at the moment due to the release of his new single 'Sunlight' which is out now. 'Sunlight' was recorded in Melbourne at Four4ty Studios and mastered at Universal Mastering in the US, and features the talented Anita Quayle (Pete Murray, The Waifs) on cello.
This new single follows the release of Simon's early 2011 single 'Call Your Friends Back' , 2010 singles 'I Think I'm In Love' and 'Let Your Feelings Out' ; 2009 EP 'Sunset Avenue' ; 2008 Album 'Sofa So Good' and 2004 EP 'Shopping Mall', which are all available on iTunes.
Having made his mark on the Australian Music Scene through his constant hard work and persistence, Simon's experience in performing, writing and recording has helped him earn the respect needed to exist in the ever changing music world.
To date Simon has played at many venues around Australia such as: The Espy, Manchester Lane, The Brunswick Hotel, The Empress Hotel, The Wesley Anne, Governor Of Hindmarsh, The Elwood Lounge, The Cat and Fiddle Hotel, Manly Boatshed, The Republic Bar, Ruby's Lounge and many more. He's also had the following singles featured on overseas releases: 'Shopping Mall' featured on UK Compilation release 'Stay in the box, Vol 2', and single 'If I Was There Tonight' featured on USA Compilation Acoustica, vol 10. Simon's 2008 music video clip for the single 'Better Place to Hide' also featured on Rage and Channel V and in 2009 the song 'Finally There' was signed to UK publishing company Baba Productions.
Simon has spent the last 2 years working as an extra on the set of TV show 'Neighbours'. He has also appeared in a couple of short films. 

Simon is now in the stages of recording his next album with singer/songwriter Monique Brumby, who is producing the album. "This new album is going to be a totally new sounding album full of atmospheric sounds and warm eerie vocals" Simon said. "I'm excited to be working with Monique on this album"
