Silence speaks loud in Turkey
Description
Hundreds turned out to stand in silence in Istanbul's Taksim Square again on Wednesday.
It's in stark contrast to the often violent scenes between police and protesters.
The numbers in Taksim Square have been growing steadily since Monday when a lone performance artist inspired the silent, static, tactic.
Protesters out in force on Wednesday used the event to mark the four people killed during the past weeks.
(SOUNDBITE)(Turkish) ELA CANDAMAR, PROTESTER, SAYING:
"We've gone through all this for nothing. It shouldn't have happened. But we've witnessed all this because of the government's policies. We've experienced things we shouldn't have. It was almost like a civil war."
There were similar scenes in Kizilay Square in Ankara.
Some carried newspapers whose headlines backed the silent standing protests now spreading across the country.
