Sidney Johnson - Fragments

With these fragments I will build,
My eyes see wonderful things
Between the lives of people
That which breaks forth to sing,
Through suffered agonies,
My eyes see that hidden grace
The light of early dawn plays,
Painted shadows on the face,
This house of silken webs abroad
Has cast the subtleties of nature,
Then raised the man of lowliness
Freely into a godlike stature,
My pieces washed in tears
Contrived of naught but dreams,
Fragments caught by fated winds
These the testimony of my schemes,
Built of hope and faith
My residue between the glances,
Words unspoken but no less real
Perhaps we should take chances.
