Shuttle floats into history

The latest leg of the space shuttle Enterprise's final journey into history was by water past some of New York's most iconic landmarks.

The shuttle is being taken by barge at a sedate pace to the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum where it will be on permanent display.

The craft arrived from Washington on April 23rd perched on top of a plane.

It stayed at Kennedy Airport until Sunday (June 3) when it was placed on the barge for the voyage to its new home.

Crowds of onlookers turned out for a glimpse as Enterprise floated past landmarks including Coney Island, the Statue of Liberty, and under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
