Shri Ram School performs the Cup Song

120 Grade 5 students from The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, perform the Cup Song, at the Moving-on Assembly that was held on 14th March 2014.

The Cup Song was featured in the movie Pitch Perfect where Anna Kendrick performed this now popular series of taps and claps.

"Cups" (also known as "Cups (Pitch Perfect's When I'm Gone)" or just "Cups (When I'm Gone)" or "When I'm Gone (Cups)") or (The Cup Song) is a song popularized by American actress Anna Kendrick from the film Pitch Perfect. The basic song "When I'm Gone" was written by A.P. Carter, then recorded in 1931 by the Carter Family and was originally a bluegrass tune. Over the years it has been recorded by many people including Mainer's Mountineers and Charlie Monroe. It was revived in 2009 by the band "Lulu and the Lampshades", with new verses written by "Luisa Gerstein", combining it with the cup game percussion beat.

Pick the cup up with your right hand so it's about 2 inches (5 cm) above the table.

Move the cup approximately 6 inches (15 cm) to your right and set it down. It should make a noise when it hits the table.

Clap once.

Turn your right hand upside down and grasp the cup. Your thumb should be facing down, toward the table.

Lift the cup and tap the opening to your left palm.

Place the cup back down on the table, right side up. Don't let go of the cup.

Lift the cup again and tap the bottom to your left palm.

Hold the bottom of the cup with your left hand.

Slap your right hand down on the table in front of you.

Cross your left arm over your right, and place the cup upside down on the table. It should make a noise.

Follow this repeatedly.
