While this theme has been remixed and recycled in Bollywood forever, Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor's 2 States trailer, manages to look fresh and engaging, thanks to the lead pair's palpable chemistry.

Ananya Swaminathan (Alia Bhatt) is a south Indian from a 'shuddh Brahmin' household, and Arjun Kapoor is a 'typical' Punjabi. They fall in love and decide to meet each other's parents. And the hell breaks loose.

When Arjun asks his mother (Amrita Singh) to talk to Alia's mother (Revathy), this is what she says - "Kis bhaasha mein baat karoon, mujhe madrasi nahi aati."

In another instance, Revathy calls Amrita 'typical Punjabi, uncultured people'.

The film is based on Chetan Bhagat's semi-autobiographical novel 2 States.
