Blake Shelton swept the 46th annual Country Music Association Awards, taking home three trophies, including the top prize for Entertainer of the Year. Shelton also won male vocalist of the year for a third time. He shared song of the year honors with his wife, Miranda Lambert, for the emotional ballad "Over You," while Lambert took home the female vocalist prize, also for the third time.

Good news for Britney Spears: a judge has ruled that there is not enough evidence for the singer's former manager to sue her and her family. A judge dismissed the case brought by Sam Lutfi that accused the singer's mother of libeling him and accused her caretakers of failing to pay him a portion of her fortune.

Finally, indie rock band Alt-J have been named winners of this year's prestigious Mercury Prize, with their debut album "An Awesome Wave." The four-member group, who met at university in 2007, told media that they felt the award would give them "a level of security" in the tumultuous music world.
