Shellings and protests in Syria
Description
Amateur video out of Homs shows the shelling of a building compound.
The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, comes a day after Russia and China blocked a UN resolution on Syria.
Residents of Homs's speaking by telephone to Reuters denounced the veto, with some chanting, "Death, rather than disgrace".
Activists say that the bombardment of Homs on Friday night was one of the bloodiest episodes of the Arab Spring uprisings. They say more than 200 people were killed in the restive city that has become a centerpiece of resistance to President Bashar al Assad's rule.
More footage shows a damaged tank near the Lebanese border. The tank was purpotedly destroyed by the Free Syrian army, a group of government military defectors.
The United Nations says that more than 5,000 people have been killed since the uprising began last March.
And yet protests go on.
In Idlib people crowd the streets to call on Assad to leave.
The government blames the violence on foreign-backed insurgent groups.
