You came one summer day
When I wasn’t searching and
I thought everything was okay
Until I heard your voice again...
Until I saw your smile again...

You came like a thief in the night
You stole my heart and I didn’t even put up a fight
Then you held my hand and whispered
Everything is going to be alright.

You healed all the pains of my past
And helped me believe in myself again
That although I cannot undo the wrong
I can still make things right.
That nights shouldn’t be cold
And words shouldn’t wound
That I need not give up myself
To make things work.

You came like sunshine in the thick of the night
Like a rainbow in lurid skies
You rescued me in my cage less prison
And swept me like a dauntless knight
Your gentleness calmed my restless heart
Trying so hard to survive in this aberrant flight

Your love resurrected me and for the first time
I feel alive...
And for all the tears that I’ve cried
For all the loneliness that I kept inside
For all the pain that hardened my heart
For all those longings and dreams that
I had to set aside...
You came and showed me that...
Love is REAL
Like forever and a day...
