My soulmate.
my ghost.
not my lover
yet...
my greatest love.
a first for me,
built entirely on faith.

my faith,
my laughable, jokeable faith.
my faith has let me down
too many times to count.

it doesn so much fade
as it waxes and wanes
rolling in and washing out
like the tide on a beach.

some days.

some days i awaken
fully believing in
the power of 'someday'

and others.

and others i wake up
to a dense fog called doubt
so thick i choke.

but every day.

But EVERY DAY
I wake up with this love.
sometimes buoyant and joyous.
sometimes dark and consuming.

this love.
is not imagined
this love is real.

the pain lets me know it is real.
