Shakira gets own star

Pop star Shakira made history on Tuesday by becoming the first Colombian to receive a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 34-year-old singer attended the ceremony with her Mum and remembered the first time she was in Hollywood:
SOUNDBITE) Shakira, pop star saying (English):
"You know when I was seven years old, I came to Los Angeles for the first time and I passed by the Walk of Fame with my mother and a friend of hers, who is actually here with us today. And I remember that my mom told me, 'Shaki, one day you are going to have your name on this place.' (Cheers) If someone would have overheard this conversation, they would have thought that my mom was delirious, but she was not. And here we are, so I want to say to all of you to dream as big as you can."
Some of Shakira's fans became quite emotional as they paid tribute to the star who has influenced them greatly.
SOUNDBITE Nidia Montoya, Shakira fan, saying (English):
"I've been here since eleven-thirty last night. Even though I only saw a glimpse of her, it makes me so happy, she is such a beautiful lady. She's a great inspiration to me. She's got me through the toughest times in my life. I dunno, I'm just so happy that I got to see her and I can't wait to see her in concert again."
SOUNDBITE Jerson Cabrera, Shakira fan, saying (English):
"This is for Shakira. She's the best and number one."
And there are more accolades to come for Shakira. On Wednesday, she will be honored at the Latin Grammy Awards as their 'Person of the Year' for her artistic achievements.
