Description

North and South Korea are experiencing one of their worst droughts in decades.

The government in Seoul has deployed workers, water pumps and emergency funds of around $39 million to the affected areas. Gyeonggi province, one of the worst-hit regions, has only received 20 per cent of its average rainfall for the past two months.

Food prices across the country are increasing by an average of 20 to 30 per cent.

Across the border, North Korea is experiencing the same weather pattern. But forecasters in South Korea predict the rains will fall soon.
Al Jazeera's Florence Looi reports from Gyeonggi province in South Korea.
