Sensex surges above 500 points

The S&P BSE Sensex rallied over 600 points in trade on Thursday to post its strongest gains registered since May 12, after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in a surprise move reduced the policy repo rate by 25 basis points from 8.0 percent to 7.75 percent with immediate effect.
