This documentary is about the extraordinary destiny of Ayrton Senna, his achievements on and off the race track, his pursuit of perfection, and his cult status. It recounts his legendary years as a Formula One driver, from the 1984 season to his death ten years later. More than just a documentary for car racing fans, Senna frees itself from the genre’s conventions by giving priority to a cinematic approach. The film makes abundant use of images extracted from the Formula One archives which for the most part had never before been seen.
