Senate Approves New Stimulus Package

On Monday 21, December, 2020, Senates approved a huge spending bill of $900 billion in Covid-19 relief aid, being the second largest relief bill in American history.
After months of negotiations, the Senate with a majority of Republicans, voted in favor the legislation 92-6 and the House of Representatives with a Democrat dominant voted 359-53.
The bill has been sent to the President Donald Trump who already agreed to sign it.
The economic relief package includes a lot of provisions but provides $300 billion in small business relief, $300 billion per week to top up in unemployment insurance until March and even direct payments of up to $600 for American adults.
Democrats had spent most of the year asking for a larger relief package but failed to come to an agreement with Republicans. They also call for more funding in the new year.
Even though the new elected President Joe Biden seem to be in favor of such new funding, it will be up to the Senate and its majority that will be decided by two run-offs held on January 5.
