Seasoning Cast Iron Cookware
425 Views • Sep 25, 2012
Description
Seasoning a cast iron skillet or any cast iron cookware is a pretty simple, yet vitally important process. When we season our cast iron cookware, we are actually filling all the nooks and crannies in the iron with oil or lard.
This oil gets baked into the cast iron and creates a bond, protecting it from rust and giving your skillet a non-stick surface. This doesn’t happen all at once though. It takes a few layers of baked in oil to get this seasoned surface.
