Description

Survivors are brought to Christmas Island in Australia for treatment, after a boat carrying about 200 refugees capsized in the Indian Ocean.

On Friday nearly 100 were still missing.

Australian Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare says there's still hope of finding them alive.

SOUNDBITE: AUSTRALIAN HOME AFFAIRS MINISTER JASON CLARE SAYING (English):

"We're in that critical window where there is a chance where more lives could be saved and that is obviously where my focus is right now."

It's thought those on board the overcrowded boat were asylum seekers from Afghanistan.

SOUNDBITE: AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER JULIA GILLARD SAYING (English):

"A very distressing and tragic incident. We don't know the full details yet but clearly we've lost a number of lives."

An air and sea search for survivors was continuing on Friday
