Scott Stevenson - Perfect Sense

Description
intimidated,
in the music of your laughter.
I sample you,
the stars and stripes of you,
the magic bullet of you
(I feel you across a crowded room) .
I piece these things together
from the outside
(the noble art of getting to know you) .
the night sets her excitement aside
to accomodate you,
making room for the
silver tricks that you do.
I join her in watching your dances.
our eyes follow your spins,
the fluid movements you're making.
starlight
collects all over your skin,
your hair like strands of ebony
and your lips like cranberry juice.
in the day,
I climb trees to get a better view;
your mountains and your valleys
(the jagged and smooth edges of you)
make my wild side of earth.
in the ocean,
I stare down in the water
to see you swim, to taste
your salt-water kisses.
in the sunset, you glow like a copper coin
and my heart relaxes.
I constantly find myself
singing about you in my head,
trying to memorize you,
all about you
and the perfect things you do.
the pale red beauty trap of you.
the flames in your eyes,
the island I fly to.
my heart and mind sell themselves
to your hands,
given up freely for
your care and comfort, and
a better sense of who you are
and why I love you so much.
