Scotland's uncertain future

Will the ayes have it .. or will Scotland say no thanks?

Nobody is certain.

On the final day of campaigning before the independence referendum, excitement and anxiety mounted across the country.

“This independence campaign has been the biggest mobilisation of working-class communities that we’ve ever seen in British history. So I think because of that, it’s so clear that the independence campaign is a lot more than just SNP,” said ‘Yes’ campaign supporter Amy Robertson.

One Edinburgh College student said: “It’s going to change the future and you have no idea what’s going to happen. It is like a big gamble.”

“There are so many consequences which are hidden, you know,” said ‘No’ campaigner Guy Walker. “They’ve been arguing about things that they see and my worry is the world is so unstable at the moment, and it is unforeseen and it will hurt both countries.”

“I think you’ve got to vote with your head,” suggested Doug Grozier. “I’ve heard people saying ‘vote with your heart,” but that’s not the way to do it. I think you can do both, but I think that’s the right answer.”

Both sides acknowledge the imminent battle for Scotland is a once in a generation choice, perhaps even a once in a lifetime one, that could redraw the map of the United Kingdom.
