Scientists studying bats to learn about disease outbreaks

Bats are the source of many disease outbreaks, but their unique immune system means they don't often contract the viruses they carry. While scientists are still trying to work out why, they have found they can now predict well in advance when an outbreak of the deadly Hendra virus may occur.
