Science and Scientism

From March 2020 until now, science has played a tremendous and unexpected role in our lives. Politicians imposed the narrative that we were facing a powerful, invisible enemy. With the support of wanna-be-scientists, we were told that a rigorous epidemiological model had predicted a global public health catastrophe if nothing were done. "We need to flatten the curve!", they said, "stay home, it's only two weeks!" Anyone who questioned the model would be labeled a denialist. Time has shown that skeptics were right to be puzzled: the model had many limitations and, therefore, a very weak predictive power. Surely, politicians and their gang of experts would never admit such limitations. In any case, their objective had already been achieved. In the name of science, the people have given away their freedoms to politicians.
