Scarlet ..... - The Long Distance Runner

running and running
avoiding it at all cost
as fast as I can I flea from it
I try to hide
but I am not sly enough
for I feel it gaining on me
closer and closer
I feel colder and colder
once it reaches me I will be as cold as stone
why was I so stupid
why did I taunt it to come out and play
why did I want it to get me
I knew it was not my time
and yet I wanted it to come
but know I see it is not my time
but I stood still as it broke free from its cage
I stood there and let it come for me
it almost had me in its grasps
when I saw the light
and then I started to run
now I will forever live the rest of my life running
running and running
becoming colder and colder
