Scarlet ..... - bedtime

tuck me in and turn out the lights
keep my door open so I do not feel fright
good night I here leave my lips
I love you I hear through the door
I whisper right back I love you to mommy
off to sweet dreams my mind flies
“you’re a mother fu*cking lair”
“shut the fu*k up bi*ch”
interrupts my lovely day dream
oh how I wish that could have been my reality
I run to my door closing it fast
slide down the back of it
and start to cry
I think of my day dream
what a picture perfect night that might be
too bad
I learned long ago
I only have myself to tuck me in
I only have myself say good night to
and as for fright
I feel it all night
I do not wish to keep the door open
for with it shut
it blocks out the fighting
then all I hear are the screams within
those are my own
those alone are bad enough
oh how I wish for that perfect night
just once I wish to feel comfort instead of fright
oh god I wish I could stop crying
have the kind words of another soother my soul
what ever is left of it
oh well I guess I better go and tuck myself in
for another nightmare awaits me
good night
