Scarborough Gypsy - I Cry

I can’t go to the airport any more
Not for goodbyes anyway
Robotically you go through the motions
At check-in fussing over luggage tags
And same thing in departures
But instead with magazines
Then comes that uncomfortable silence
When it hurts too much to speak
And the pain seizes you
Like a thump in the stomach
That’s when all I want to do is hold her
And never let go
Why must I let her go?
I don’t know
But I do
She has to go
And I will
Kiss her goodbye
Wave and smile
But all the while
I cry.
