Listen to your heartbeat
As it pounds within your chest
It beats a sensual rhythm
Everyday another test

It can tell you all you need to know
If you take your time to hear
If you nurture your emotions
You'll have nothing more to fear

We've all heard tales of heartbreak
Or, we've been there once or twice
For some there is no give or take
They wear it all their life

Like a brand upon the face of time
It dogs our every step
It knows the tune, to every rhyme
And takes what it can get.
