Santhosh Vijayakumar - The Masks

Mask I wore on my naked face,
Not one but many.
One for money, another for fame,
Then another for command, and so on.
None knew I bore a mask on my naked face,
For it neared my true face.
Was it for beauty or to hide, I wore?
No it was for mere survival.
Days passed by, with money, fame and command.
I had every thing that one could name,
And also a burdened soul.
Then I removed them all, exposing my naked face.
I have nothing left, be it money or fame or command,
But I do have a lighter soul.
