Sandra Martyres - Rain

The skies are overcast
But will the clouds last?
Or will they slide across the sky
And simply pass us by
To settle over another village or town?
Our land is parched and brown
The cattle are lean and hungry
The wells are empty
The village is almost deserted
The villagers have started moving away
No longer can they stay thirsty.
But I see the skies are getting darker
I can feel raindrops
Am I imagining?
No it is truly the rain
I see the drops sliding
Down my window pane.
I smell the delicious smell
Of wet earth
All will soon be well.
