Sam Pendlebury - Stairs from Heaven

She held his hand, then walked him down the stairs,
from there place together above
Step by step
Like teaching a child to ride a bike for the first time
She held his hand down the stairs one at a time
A little less of her with each step
Every step, another something they shared taken away
Down he goes step after step
Now here at the bottom looking up
With a tear on his cheek, he feels no shame to hide
Here he stands now alone
Looking up at the stairs he'll never climb
