Saltedpeanut Blank - Flame

Sun begins to fade as she rises
opening her blood shot eyes,
the dark rings enveloping them,
reminders of what beauty once was.

With joints full of sorrow,
and hair knotted
she makes her way to her wonderland,
her demise.

Opening the medicine cabinet
pulling forward the glazed bag
containing its crystals of pleasure
full of promises unkept.

Her heart races and lips moisten,
while she lights her scented candle.
The base of which turned to mold
as the flame grows in her eyes.

From the darkness a moth
with wings of pure white.
Slowly it flutters to the flame,
never having seen such a delight.

The girl looks onward,
the moth dancing with the flame.
Hugging its curls,
flying so gracefully, so close.

The moths wings of white
turned to red as it fell from the sky.
Wings flicker violently
leaving feathered ambers as it plunges.

The ambers hanging in the air,
mocking the now flightless moth
as it falls spiraling
into the sink the girl fills with water.

The charred remains are all that's left,
the moth floats lifelessly.
A shell of its purity,
it shall never fly again.

All the while the girl stands shocked,
looking on at the spectacle.
Now the deed is done,
as she falls to her knees weeping the pain away.
