Saffan Asif - A Winter Evening Settle Down

the winter evening settle down
with smell of steaks in passage ways
six o clock
the burnt out end of smokey days
and now a gusty shower wraps
the grinny scraps
of withered about your feet
and newspapers from vac aunt lots
the shower beat
and broken blind end of chimney pots
and at the corner of the street
a lonely cab horse steams and stamps
and then the lightning of the lamps
