Why is it we cannot go anywhere
without intoxication
as if we're so fucking boring
we have to drink our faces off
for a little excitement.

This is not the answer.
Of course it's not.
I'm not looking for an answer.

A night is never concluded
unless someone falls,
repeatedly or
confrontation ensues
him, her,
him, stranger,
her, lover,
anger, rage
all part of the game
in this
twisted,
ruptured fate.

Pride standing in the way
Like—a stoic—statuette;

Waterfalls of love frozen
In mid-progression

hinder hinder thwart thwart
what makes us waste time so

when every wise word urges us to
throw

Our caution to the wind
seize life while
it roars under the fingers

yet we dawdle
and we waste
and we spend
spend
spend
yet leave all unspent.
