Are you, who I call beauty, still there?
Still standing outside the door, your hand on the wall,
Waiting for me while I waited for you?
Sitting down, I admit, not pacing the room
With frantic thoughts of you propelling my feet.
Eyes on paper, I admit, not on the ceiling
Reminiscing of your lovely qualities which
Had guided my eyes before.
Heart sitting still, I admit, not pushing through my shirt
Leaving me short of breath and strength.
But do you still think of me, as I had thought of you?
Think of me as coming to that door,
Not long to be shut, but to be opened.
You who I call beauty, think of me,
As I had thought of you.
