Ruth Walters - Lighting the shadows

He stood in the shadows
of a broken home.
His eyes dull,
his demeanour solemn.
Clarity evaded him
his problems
were blinding
until one day
she came along
and suddenly
he could see
that where shadows fall
there is always light
or there would be
no shadows.
