How is it so hard to remember, mother
remember I exist

us, your children

Mother...or should we even call you that
You haven't bothered to remember our names
the day we were born
The only time you choose to acknowledge us
is when you're awake long enough
to ask for us to buy you
your liver failure and portable cancer
Do you even remember the promises you made to us at 3
that you were always going to be there
that you'd never falter
Where did you go
Why haven't you came back
Do you even remember those long days and endless nights
where we'd square off for verbal fights
cause of the pain your vindictive self inflicted upon our innocence
Do you even remember when I said I hate you
Do you even remember when I said I despise you
Do you even remember when we said we loathe you
Do you once even look back to when we last said we love you
Can you recognize your own voice when you speak
But why would you bother
Mother...or should we just call you Mary
A small gift to know we bothered to remember your name
Why we try is just a distant memory
We try to remember to forget about you
while you forget to remember us
