royness ( ' ' ) - Absolution

My hands clasped tightly, I kneel
in adjuration – ugly and empty

and holy. God would never pardon me -
I asked for a sign and He paid me in sin,

pains for my disgrace. They say
His voice can shatter walls

but I hear no trembling -
my sins can never be forgiven,

my skin will only crack and bleed
with false stigmata; these marks

of the nail and spear - I am no martyr,
I call on Him

only in my weakness -
my prayers fall on deaf ears.

I weep for the devil –
There will be no forgiveness

I kneel upon the hard stone, words
echo in the walls
in this house of the dead.
