Rowlett Tornado Leaves Massive Destruction

A series of deadly tornadoes swept across north Texas on Saturday, December 26, leaving behind scenes of devastating destruction. Rowlett, seen in this footage, and Garland were particularly hard hit. Eleven people died in the tornadoes, eight of them in Garland, where the National Weather Service rated the tornado EF4, the second highest rating.

The tornado that hit Rowlett was an EF3, the NWS said. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed in the two towns and dozens of people injured.
