Round up from strike action

Nurses, midwives and ambulance staff across England were on strike over pay this morning. Patient services were disrupted, but emergency care was kept going, after an agreement between union leaders and management.

It was the first time that midwives have gone on strike in their 133-year history, as they insisted that they need to be valued more.
