Ross-on-Wye

Ross on Wye is a market town in Herefordshire, England. Its name is from the Welsh 'Rhosan' meaning a headland, as the town is on a hill overlooking the river Wye. Ross is about 11km from Wales at the nearest point; in Welsh it's "Rhosan ar Wy." So there is a lot of Welsh influence here, and the western part of Herefordshire was historically in Wales.

Ross is known as the birthplace of tourism in the UK due to its key position in the "Wye Tour."
