Monotonous meanderings
I became
Achromatic, colourless
Possessed; my innate beauty
Being grey
Destroyed any lightness
Stuck within the extremes of black and white
Amalgamation of the two
Made me somewhat dull
Being grey
Made me silent
Though the voices within grew louder
And stronger
The voices of the outer world
Had no clue
“You must toughen up if you want to be black”
“You must tone down in order to be white”
Being grey
Stuck within a definition
Given by those who are ignorant
And misguided
What options are left?
