It was long since over, you said, long before now
Why then is it OUR love you cannot avow?
Why at this time did you knock upon my door?
Did you think I would play the role of your whore?

You said the other love had gone cold and had died
Though that may be so, to that love you are tied
So please no more sweet talk, no more lies
I’ve been such a fool, my actions unwise

Ideas of soul mates are just foolish dreams
Indeed, nothing is ….. as it seems
