Rory Hudson - Along the path
6 Views • Nov 08, 2014
Description
as once we walked along the path
that led along a grassy ridge
and round the hill, and back again.
Beseeching what I could not give
you turned your pale face up to mine;
your eyes were moist with fading dreams
that you might hope, that you might live.
The path is now all overgrown
that years ago we used to tread,
and others walk it now, like us,
with dreams they cannot call their own.
The wind blows coldly through the night
and drowns the songs you might have sung
to ease the darkness in your heart
until the early morning light.
And I wish that you could ease my pain
as in my dreams I tread the path
that vanishes in wilderness
and never will come back again.
